Kathmandu. A special Haribodhani Ekadashi (tulsi wedding) fair will be held at the holy pilgrimage site
Budhanilkanth Temple from November 23 to 27.
Budanilkanth Municipality announced today through a press conference that all preparations for the fair
have been completed.
A 1,001-member core management committee has been formed under the coordination of Mayor Mitharam Adhikari
to manage the fair. According to the municipality, 13 thematic sub-committees have been formed along with
the monitoring and hospitality sub-committee under the coordination of Deputy Mayor Anita Lama.
Throughout the duration of the fair, public transport has been arranged to return from the main gate
(bus park) of the temple. Arrangements have been made to send reserved small and large vehicles and private
vehicles to Bishnumati.
Also known as Kartik Shukla Ekadashi or Haribodhini Ekadashi or Tulsi Vivah, this day is especially celebrated
with the worship of Lord Vishnu. According to Sanatan Dharma, Lord Vishnu is believed to have woken up from
his slumber on this auspicious day after sleeping from Ashad Shukla Ekadashi for four months.
Since ancient times, millions of devotees from all over the country come to Budhanilkanth temple every year
from Ekadashi to Purnima for five days of special puja, prayer and darshan.
On the occasion of this special festival, the municipality has also announced a city-wide local holiday on
Haribodhani Ekadashi on Thursday.
